Sara Anzanello, born in San Donà di Piave, Italy, on 30 July 1980, was a central volleyball player, one of the most popular in the panorama of Italian and international sport. Her career, which began in 1995 in Latisana (Udine), saw her later at Club Italia in 1998, then joining the ranks of the AGIL Trecate of Novara in 1999 and subsequently of Villa Cortese in 2009.
Hired by Azerrail Voleybol Klubu in 2011, in March 2013 she was struck by a fulminant hepatitis that forced her to return to Italy for a liver transplant.
Returning to the world of volleyball in 2014, she worked for Club Italia, and then returned to the field playing in Serie B1 for Novara in 2015.
With the national team, she won gold at the 2002 World Championships and two World Cups in 2007 and 2011, as well as the Individual Best Wall Award at the World Grand Prix in 2006.
Hospitalized again for complications, she died at the Niguarda hospital in Milan on 25 October 2018.
